Kava is an ancient sacred ceremonial beverage originating in the South Pacific Islands. The Piper Methysticum plant is harvested for its roots, which are dried and ground into a fine powder. The powder is then soaked in fresh water and strained to create a beverage that is known to have a relaxing euphoric effect on the consumer. It is known to help with anxiety, stress, and mood elevation. The initial effects of kava are mild at first due to its reverse tolerance. Over time, regular consumption strengthens the effects and less kava is needed to reach the euphoric feeling. Kava has a bitter, earthy taste.
